Oregon Battle of the Books

The Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is a statewide program for reading motivation and comprehension sponsored by the Oregon Association of School Libraries in conjunction with a Library Services and Technology Act grant. The goals are to encourage reading for enjoyment, broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension, and promote cooperative learning.

Currently, students are reading books from the OBOB list in order to qualify for being on a team. Students need to read at least three books from the OBOB list by the end of November in order to be assigned to a team. Participants then need to continue to read as many other OBOB books as possible in order to be of most help to their teams in the battles.
School battles will take place between January and February. The 1st place team at the school level will advance to the regional tournament. The top two teams at the regional tournament will advance to the state tournament.
