Library Policies
Checking Out Books
1st grade students are allowed to check one book out at a time; 2nd grade students may check two books out; 3rd-5th grade students are allowed to check out three books. Kindergarten students are allowed to check out one book at a time beginning in January. Some teachers require their students to check out at least one or two Accelerated Reader books each week.Overdue Library Books
Books are checked out for a two week period. At this point in time the John Tuck Library does not charge a fine for overdue books, however, students with an overdue library book will not be allowed to check out another book until their overdue book is returned. All books must be returned or paid for by the end of the school year or students will not be allowed to participate in Field Day.Lost and Damaged Books
Students who lose or damage library books will be expected to pay the full replacement cost of the book and will not be allowed to check out another book until the book has either been found and returned or paid for. Library bound books can be quite expensive so students are expected to take good care of the library books they check out. Students with unpaid fines will not be allowed to participate in Field Day at the end of the school year.
