The letters 'PTO' are displayed in a purple, glittery font, with the words 'Parent Teacher Organization' below.

The John Tuck P.T.O. (Parent Teacher Organization) is an amazing team of parents and educators working together in support of our school.  Annual fundraising allows us to provide educational supplies, school equipment and wonderful opportunities for our students.  Everyone is welcome to be part of the John Tuck P.T.O. team.  We meet the first Monday* of every month at 3:45 p.m. in the John Tuck Library.

A parent-teacher organization is a formal organization composed of parents, teachers and staff that is intended to facilitate parental participation in a school.

The main role of the local PTO is to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers and schools, in support of students. This can include recruiting and coordinating volunteers, providing special recognition in awards ceremonies or through other activities, organizing parent education events, planning teacher appreciation activities and much more. At schools where the PTO raises a significant portion of the school’s discretionary money, the PTO has a lot of power to influence which programs are funded. Ideally the PTO will work with the principal and staff to decide jointly which programs will most benefit the school.
